NES VxROM Basic Board

The NES VxROM Advanced is a homebrew or reproduction board that supports VRC2 and VRC4 mappers  and supports WRAM.

Component List

VRC2 or VRC4 (Must be harvested from VRC2 or VRC4 game)

PRG – 27C010/27C020/39SF010/39SF020 or compatible (Not Carried)

CHR – 27C010/27C020/39SF010/39SF020 or compatible (Not Carried)

WRAM – 6264 SRAM (HERE)

Lockout Chip – AVRCIC (HERE)

C1 – 22uf 16V Capacitor (HERE)

C2,C3,C4,C5 – 0.1uf 50V Capacitor (HERE)

C6 – 56pf to 500pf Capacitor for WRAM support (Value seems to depend on game and components used) I’ve had the most luck with 82pf which you can get from digikey (DIGIKEY)

D1 – Diode 100V 300MA – 1N4148-T50A (HERE)

Mapper Compatibility

Verified compatible with VRC2B, VRC4A, VRC4B, VRC4D, and VRC4E. Please note that other mappers have not yet been tested.

Please note that is only for some games that have a hard time with newer SRAMs (Faster then 120ns). If you are using older SRAM or your game doesn’t have an issue then it is not needed.
